Unity Trust Bank has unveiled a new £100 million green lending tariff designed to help organisations reduce their carbon footprint and transition to a low carbon economy. The initiative, launched in November 2025, offers beneficial lending terms to both new and existing customers pursuing energy efficiency improvements and climate resilience measures.
The ringfenced finance supports a range of eligible projects, including low carbon heating systems, improved insulation, small-scale renewable energy installations, and climate adaptation measures. The tariff is also available to organisations that have already achieved high levels of energy efficiency, recognising their commitment to environmental sustainability.
“With a government target for the UK to reach net zero by 2050 and the increased costs of energy, it’s important to find solutions to support our customers to move to a low carbon economy,” said Matt Conroy, Head of Impact Propositions at Unity Trust Bank.
He emphasised that the new tariff aims to provide clear, transparent pricing with tangible cost benefits for customers.
The Green Tariff builds on Unity’s award-winning Retrofit Transition Initiative (RTI), which launched in 2023 and supported energy efficiency improvements in over 1,770 affordable homes. The RTI earned recognition as ‘Funding Team of the Year’ at the Unlock Net Zero Awards 2024.
With residential and commercial buildings accounting for approximately 20-21% of UK carbon emissions, Unity’s expanded green lending program represents a significant step toward supporting the country’s net zero transition. As a social impact bank, Unity has set its own net zero target for 2045 and is a signatory of the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty.
