GABV ANNUAL MEETING
Engaging with values-based frontrunners
In the Spring of 2009, 10 CEOs from values-based banks met in Zeist, a small town in The Netherlands, to try to change the world. Ever since, the GABV Annual Meeting has become the key moment for the Banking on Values movement. Hosted by a member bank, it has created a genuinely unique moment of exchange, inspiration and revitalisation.

Shaping the future of banking for good

The GABV Annual Meeting is the flagship event of the values-based banking global community. From Kathmandu to Berlin; from Lima to Vancouver, every year a host bank invites the CEOs of GABV member banks to meet around a theme of global interest that also reflects our evolution in the banking industry.

Over the course of three days, participants, including CEOs and a broader audience connected to the Banking on Values movement, discuss the future of the financial sector and focus on how values-based banks can play a role in addressing the biggest social and environmental challenges.

Beyond CEOs

Originally the GABV Annual Meeting was focused on CEOs and senior leaders leading the way in values-based banking. Over the years, it has grown to include participants of the Leadership Academy, Communities of Practice – partner groups that aid member banks, and other partner organisations. With each new meeting, we welcome new member banks, prospective members, and those in transition to becoming values-based.

Hosts of the meeting are able to engage their own co-workers in various elements of the meeting. This provides opportunities for a wide group of practitioners to learn from the world’s leaders in values-based banking, helping to embed a values-based approach more deeply in the host bank.

Keynote Speakers

Every year, the Annual Meeting has also been hosted by some influential speakers across the world. Since the launch event in 2009 with Achim Steiner, former UN Environment Programme’s Executive, and HRH Queen Maxima in the Netherlands, other personalities have accompanied the GABV Annual Meetings; from Rt. Honourable Prime Minister of Nepal, Mr. Pushpa Kamal Dahal, to author of Theory U Otto Scharmer, and activist and author Naomi Klein.
