After a successful first course in 2016 with over 8000 participants from 161 countries, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Massive Open Online Course, Just Money: Banking as if Society Mattered, will launch again on April 25, 2017.
The course, developed by the MIT Community Innovators Lab and the Presencing Institute in collaboration with the GABV, explores the concepts and practices of values-based banking and enables participants to connect to the global values-based banking community.
The Just Money course draws on cases, examples, and interviews from values-based banks and organizations around the world, including GABV members. The content focuses on themes such as: the role of money and debt in the economy, ownership and governance, balancing profit and mission, and the future of banking.
Employing an innovative online to offline learning model, participants are also encouraged to organize and meet in local hubs, where they can discuss the material, connect the ideas presented in the course to practice, and watch the two live sessions the course team offers. These hubs may be out in the local community or amongst co-workers within member-banks.
