Zeist, the Netherlands, 14 March 2019: The Global Alliance for Banking on Values announces the election of two new members to its board of directors representing North America and Europe, and a vice-chair as of March 2019.

Newly elected board directors are:
Tamara Vrooman, President and CEO, Vancity, GABV Vice-Chair
Under Tamara’s leadership, Vancity has gained international recognition for its values-based banking model. She believes that banking plays a vital role in developing a healthy society—building the well-being of people and, at the same time, ensuring the long-term sustainability of the communities in which they live and work.
David Reiling, CEO, Sunrise Banks, leading North American Chapter
David is a social entrepreneur and an innovator in community development finance and financial inclusion. He has been in the community development banking industry for more than 25 years. Under David’s leadership, Sunrise Banks became the first Minnesota bank certified as a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), a certified B-Corp, a legal Benefit Corporation, and a member of the Global Alliance of Banking on Value
Martin Rohner, CEO, Alternative Bank Switzerland, leading European Chapter
Martin holds a degree in business administration from the University of St.Gallen, Switzerland, and a Master’s degree in Environment and Development from the University of Cambridge, UK. His professional stations include Fairtrade International (Member of the Board) and the Max Havelaar Foundation Switzerland (CEO), the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (Head of Division, Multilateral Financial Institutions) and the World Bank (Advisor to the Swiss Executive Director).

The Global Alliance for Banking on Values (GABV) is a network of banking leaders from around the world committed to advancing positive change in the banking sector. Our collective goal is to change the banking system so that it is more transparent, supports economic, social and environmental sustainability, and is composed of a diverse range of banking institutions serving the real economy. The Alliance was founded after the 2008 financial crisis and formalized a network of financial institutions who for many years had already been operating in a sustainable and viable way. They formalized the movement of Values-based Banking in 2009.
