With the start of the new year, two organizations, the Global Alliance for Banking on Values (GABV) and CEMS, the Global Alliance in Management Education are partnering to exchange resources and support research to engage stakeholders and the respective communities.
The GABV and CEMS started working together as part of the CEMS Global Management Practice course with Professor Jaap Boonstra at the ESADE Business School in Barcelona. The class conducted research on the challenges and opportunities of the GABV, looking specifically at the GABV2020 approach. This proved to be very beneficial for both organizations, and especially for the students involved.
“The GABV project added value to my CEMS experience, because it showed me that there is an organisation that perfectly bridges the gap between financial institutions and socially impactful work. The collaboration was very interesting and I think GABV can make a huge impact on how CEMS students think about banking by making them aware of the positive impact financial institutions can have in supporting local communities. Additionally, it will be great for GABV to become more well-known among CEMS students as future employees, clients, influencers who would in turn promote the world of social banking initiatives.” – Judith Ludwigs, CEMS Student at the Stockholm School of Economics. To learn more about societal and human need to transform our financial institutions into a more sustainable and value driven business:
Building on the success of the project, Juliette ten Brink, a CEMS student at ESADE and a member of the Responsible Leadership Team on the Student Board helped CEMS and the GABV to officially enter a partnership. “The GABV is a pioneer, they are driving a form of banking that is both inspiring and incredibly forward thinking, and in addressing that challenge, CEMS seemed like an obvious, suitable, and equally forward-thinking partner that, when it comes down to it, understands and promotes the same values that will ultimately bring our world closer together,” she says.
CEMS and GABV look forward to expanding their cooperation and partnership that would bring benefits while complementing each other’s activities.
“The GABV is excited to have an opportunity to cooperate with CEMS on different education projects, to support their students to develop in the area of banking on values. We are enthusiastic to have their contributions to our programmes – MOOCs and Leadership Academy, and to create volunteer opportunities for CEMS students within GABV members. Education is one of the best ways to make a change in the world. We hope to reach even more people and teach them about benefits of banking on values.” – Marcos Eguiguren, GABV Executive Director.
We are eager to see how this partnership will help to shape the future of finances and strengthen the #BankingonValues movement.
