Change the news and win on Banking on Values Day

Make your own headline you’d like to see in the future and you could win a Zero Waste kit!

At the Global Alliance for Banking on Values, we are convinced that if people, banks and government used money in a positive way we could change the news and make the world a better place to live in, as values-based banks are already doing.

Celebrate Banking on Values Day 2020 with us by writing and sharing a news headline invented by you describing your dream for a fairer or greener future possible with a more conscious use of money.

Post it from the 17th to the 25th of November on Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #BankingOnValues.

For example:

“Women lead 60% of the companies in Paraguay”. Can you imagine that? I choose #BankingOnValues to support women entrepreneurs.

“All banks in Japan stop investing in the oil industry”. Can you imagine? I choose #BankingOnValues to make this possible.

“The racial wealth gap disappears in the United States”. Can you imagine this happening? I support #BankingOnValues to make it happen.

“The bike and transit local industries outdo the international car industry in Australia”. Can you imagine? I am with #BankingOnValues to support local sustainable manufacturing.

Optionally, you can add a related photo, GIF… so that you help the message reach further 😊

The authors of the posts will be in to win 15 fantastic Zero Waste kits as recognition for the contributions. The kit contains items for everyday use to make a more sustainable life easier.


Rules (in detail)

1. Promoter/Organiser

The contest is promoted by the Global Alliance for Banking on Values (GABV), through the social networks Instagram and Twitter, neither of whom sponsor or endorse this action, on the occasion of #BankingOnValues Day 2020.

2. Participation

Any person over 18 years of age who has an Instagram or Twitter account and who participates in accordance with the conditions set in these rules and respects the legal conditions of the mentioned social networks. Staff of the GABV are not eligible for the prize.

3. Contest Duration

The deadline for participation in the action will begin on November the 17th 2020 at 00:00 a.m. Australian Eastern Time and end on November the 25th at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Standard Time.

4. How to participate

To take part in the competition, participant profiles on Twitter and Instagram (a user can participate in one of the networks or both) must be public.

To participate and be eligible for the prize it will be necessary:

To post a text (photo and video are optional) with a news headline invented by the author about something you dream of for the future related to a more conscious use of money.

The publication must include the #BankingOnValues tag.

Users can participate with more than one post on social media. All eligible posts will be included in the competition.

5. Selection of the winner/s

Up to 15 winners will be randomly selected from all qualifying entrants to the competition.

Any content that the organisers deem inappropriate, offensive or unrelated to the spirit of this initiative will not be considered (see 4 for more details about eligible posts).

6. Winner communication

The organiser will contact the winners through the social network in which they have participated to inform them personally of the selection during the weeks of December 2nd – December 13th. Likewise, the winner/s will be announced publicly on GABV’s social media accounts and communication channels, republishing their posts. If a winner cannot be reached within 15 days from December 1st 2020, the promoter will be exempt from any responsibility, and may choose an alternative winner (using the method described on 5).

7. Prize

The prize consists of:

One Zero Waste kit per winner. The kit will be shipped to the personal address provided by the winner after communicating with him/her that they have won.

The kit will be the one shown in the photo above. In the case there are not enough available kits of this model at the time of shipment, we will offer a similar Zero Waste kit to the winners

8. Taxation

The prize is subject to the provisions of the regulations governing the income tax of individuals.

9. Processing of personal data

The participants accept, through their participation in the action, that the contents and comments that will be published on the social networks on which the action takes place (Instagram and Twitter) can be shared with the users of these social networks.

In order to participate in the action, it is necessary to have accepted the rules of participation of the indicated social networks.

It is not necessary for the participant to fill in any form to participate in the action or to provide any personal data.

Nevertheless, it will be necessary to collect the winners’s address with the only objective of being able to send the prize (we will delete this data after sending it).

10. Intellectual property

The acceptance of the prize means that the winner gives consent for the use by the GABV of his/her name and posts/images published in the GABV’s public channels (such as Instagram, Twitter, Linkedin, Facebook and on its website and ezine).

All participants must be holders of the intellectual property rights of the material presented to the action, being fully responsible for the content. In order to include the image of minors in photographs or videos submitted, the participant must have the express authorization of their legal representatives.

The participant will keep the GABV harmless from any damage that it may suffer as a result of any type of claim that it may receive as a result of the participant’s failure to comply with the obligations assumed in these rules and, in particular, those relating to the authorship of photographs/videos submitted to the action and the use of the image of minors in the photographs presented. The winner gives to the GABV, free of charge, for the participation in the contest, the rights of reproduction and distribution to the public of the posts, allowing their display by the media that the GABV decides.

11. Responsibility

The GABV may cancel any participation in the competition if it suspects that there has been a breach by the participant of these terms.

The GABV assumes no responsibility to the participant or third parties for the loss of data that may occur as a result of email or social media problems in which the contest takes place.

Likewise, the GABV may modify at any time the conditions of the competition, including to cancel or modify the duration of the initiative, provided there is a just cause and any changes are communicated by the same means in which the competition rules were first communicated.

Finally, the GABV does not assume any responsibility for the violation of the intellectual property rights of the participants that may occur as a result of non-compliance with the requirements established in the section “Intellectual property” of these rules.

12. Rules

Participation in this initiative implies full acceptance of the rules contained in this text.
